The Warsaw heritage of the Ulrich family, dating back to the 18th century, is a very interesting and glorious episode in the history of Polish gardening. Jan Bogumił Ulrich, the founder of the Warsaw Ulrich dynasty, was appointed the gardener of the Saxon Garden (Ogród Saski) at the beginning of the 19th century. In 1805, Jan Bogumił Ulrich opens his own garden and starts the production of rare species of fruits and vegetables. With time, he becomes a specialist in floriculture.
In 1876, Jan's son Krystian buys land in the village of Górce, now a part of Wola. The crop production is moved to today's Ulrychowo, Górczewska Street. A model gardening centre is created there, with plant nurseries, greenhouses and a demonstration garden.
The Ulrich family brings exceptional varieties of trees to Warsaw. Many of them like scarlet and weeping beeches, red maples and pin oaks, have survived in the Park until the present day. The Ulrich Park has become the place of family and social get-togethers of the Wola community. In 1958, the company was nationalised and the pedestrian park, along with the small palace and greenhouses, fell into ruin.
The construction of Wola Park at 124 Górczewska Street brought about the revival of the park complex. The permanent care of the park, the fountain and the historical buildings of the former Ulrich Garden provided by the shopping centre made it possible to restore the traditional walking area of the Wola residents.
